Founded by the brewer behind one of the most storied stouts in American craft beer, and the pedigree shows in every pour. The taproom has zero pretense - locals at the bar, Kittery in a glass. Ask what is freshest, and if a dark beer is on, do not overthink it.

The most adventurous tap list in town, and where I send beer people who think they have tried everything. The house specialty is gruit - an old style brewed with botanicals instead of hops - alongside small-batch ales you will not taste anywhere else. The snug room and hidden patio reward the curious.

Our neighborhood taproom, and part of why West Enders act a little smug about beer. Started in 2016 in a garage-like space beside an auto shop, and the room keeps that unpolished charm while pouring some of the most consistent beer in New Hampshire. Dog-friendly, with rotating food pop-ups that keep the regulars very regular.

A bright, modern room near the traffic circle with a hop-forward list that rotates fast enough to keep every visit interesting - and painless parking, which makes it the logical first stop of any crawl.

Dover's downtown anchor and the natural opening move of a Central Avenue evening. Hazy IPAs built the reputation; a genuinely friendly bar crowd keeps it. Everything else worth doing in the Garrison City is a short walk from your stool.

A small room in a Newmarket plaza with a reputation far bigger than its footprint - pastry stouts and fruited sours that beer traders drive hours for. Release days are genuine events here: check the calendar, go early, and do not expect last week's beer to still be on.

A brewery in an 1860s barn on a twelve-acre working North Hampton farm, brewing with at least 70 percent New England-grown ingredients - a bar almost nobody else in the state even attempts. Between the beer garden, the farm animals, and dinner from the kitchen, a summer evening here is the Seacoast at its best.

York's homegrown father-and-son brewery just off Route 1, pouring approachable ales with no attitude. It is the easiest possible detour between Long Sands and the bridge home, and exactly the right size for one well-earned post-beach pint.

The warm, wood-paneled corner room on Fleet Street that every downtown wishes it had. The drinks are creative without being precious, and the kitchen stays useful late - which matters more than people admit. Our standing pick for the last stop of the night.
