Privacy Policy
The short version: we collect very little, we sell none of it, ever.
What we collect
- Email addresses you give us - newsletter signups, event submissions, business inquiries, and itinerary requests. Used only for what you asked for and our own newsletter. Unsubscribe anytime.
- Usage analytics, only if you say yes - we use Google Analytics to see which pages and events people find useful (page views, clicks, general region). Its cookies stay switched off until you accept them on the banner. It does not tell us who you are, and GA4 does not store your IP address.
- Loopy chat messages - questions you ask our AI guide are sent to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate the answer, along with the site's public event and business data. We keep the questions for up to 90 days so we can see what the site is missing and write it - "eleven people asked about dog-friendly patios" is how the next guide gets chosen. We do not keep Loopy's replies, and we store nothing that identifies you or ties two questions together: no name, no IP address, no account, no session id. If you've accepted analytics cookies we also record two things about how an answer went - whether you immediately rephrased the question, and whether you clicked a link in the reply - worked out in your own browser and sent as a simple yes/no. Please don't put sensitive personal information in the chat; it's for event and local questions.
- Saved events and sign-in - hearts you tap are stored only in your own browser (localStorage) and never leave your device. If you create an account, we store the email address you signed in with so we can recognize you next time.
We don't knowingly collect anything from children under 13. If you think a child has sent us their email, tell us and we'll delete it.
How long we keep it
- Your email - until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
- Analytics - Google Analytics keeps event data for 14 months, then deletes it automatically.
- Chat questions - 90 days, then deleted automatically. Loopy's replies aren't kept at all.
- Browser storage (saved events, your cookie choice) - stays until you clear your browser data.
What we never do
- Sell or rent your personal information. To anyone. Ever.
- Share your email with businesses without your explicit request (if you ask us to connect you with a local pro, we pass along exactly what you submitted - that's the point of the form).
- Run third-party ad trackers or display-ad networks.
Cookies & your choices
The only cookies here are Google Analytics' measurement cookies, and they stay off until you turn them on. We ask once with a banner; until you accept, nothing analytics-related is stored on your device. The site works exactly the same either way.
Changed your mind? You can flip it any time, in either direction:
If your browser or an extension sends a Global Privacy Control signal, we treat that as a no automatically and never show you the banner. You can also block cookies with your browser's settings, any content blocker, or Google's own opt-out tool.
Your choice is remembered in your browser's own storage rather than in a cookie, so saying no doesn't require us to set one.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to show you what we hold on you, correct it, delete it, or send you a copy - and we'll never charge you or treat you differently for asking. New Hampshire's Data Privacy Act, and the equivalent laws in states like California and Colorado, put those rights in writing; we extend them to everyone rather than checking your address first. We don't sell personal information, share it for cross-context behavioural advertising, or use it for automated decisions about you.
To exercise any of it, email us at the address below. We'll confirm within a few days and complete it within 45 days at the outside, though in practice it's usually same day. If we ever say no to a request, we'll explain why and how to appeal it.
One honest limit: because we deliberately store nothing that identifies who asked Loopy a question, we genuinely can't look up "my" chat questions to show or delete them - there's nothing linking them to you. They're deleted on their own within 90 days. We'd rather tell you that than pretend to a lookup we can't do.
Questions or removal requests
Want your email deleted from our list or have any privacy question? Email hello@seacoastlocalloop.com and a human (one of the two people who run this site) will take care of it, usually same day.
